Hi There!

I’m Kathleen

I bring a creative, collaborative approach to understanding how each person’s physical, emotional, and sensory experiences connect. My work includes occupational therapy services for issues related to ADHD and Autism, treatment for anxiety and OCD, and support for individuals navigating daily life challenges. I’m grateful for my work, my clients, and our community.

My Story

I took a winding path to becoming an OT. My own experiences taught me what it feels like when nothing seems to work for you. I try to offer the type of support I wish I had during challenging times in my life.

Living with neurodivergence, anxiety, and everyday challenges showed me how difficult it can be to find the right support. It also showed me the value of compassion, curiosity, and practical solutions that fit your life.

Before starting my private practice in 2024, I spent 10 years working in publicly funded community mental health services. I helped people learn how their bodies and minds work and supported them in making daily life more manageable.

My Approach

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. I look at the whole picture, not just physical, emotional or cognitive issues, but how everything connects.

I use established methods like ACT and ERP along with practical life skills, psychological and occupational theories, and sensory strategies. Everything is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Authenticity matters to me. I always aim to be genuine and honest. Our work together is a partnership, your feedback is always welcome.

Education and Training

I love learning (but hate tests)

I’m a registered occupational therapist with additional training in psychotherapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and specialized OCD training.

My education includes a BA in Communication Studies, BA in Psychology, Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, extensive post-graduate training in psychotherapy through programs such as Clinical Behavioural Sciences a McMaster Unviersity and the BTTI and Advanced Forum through International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). I have also completed training in a variety of other specialized topics and interventions to support my clients needs.

I’m passionate about learning and often go down research rabbit holes, using my critical appraisal skills to guide my way. I parse the research so you don’t have to (unless you want to, and I’m happy to share resources). If you like details, I keep a (mostly) updated list of formal professional development here.

Fun Facts

A few random details about me:

  • I’m really happy the few weeks a year we can get local strawberries and (not so local) cherries.
  • I find being in or near natural water very regulating. I love living in Northern Ontario due to the close proximity of rivers and lakes.
  • I’m a serial show re-watcher. I won’t say which ones, but I get intellectual stimulation elsewhere.
  • Through a very lucky break, I made it to national bowling championships in third grade. I could barely hold the bowling ball!
